Matthew Brumit received his MA in English and PhD in Literature from the University of Dallas, where he currently teaches courses in the Classical Education MA program. He has also taught at Southern Methodist University and the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND. Most of his academic writing has focused on aspects of the platonic tradition in Boethius, Chaucer, and the Pearl-poet, but he has also published on Herrick and Austen. In 2023, he and his family moved to rural New England, where they are trying their hands at homesteading and where he and his wife are teaching at their parish school. He hopes to encourage the integration of academic and agrarian arts in all levels of education as well as the inclusion of manual arts into liberal arts curricula.
