Rali Christo, a UC Berkeley Ph.D. in Classics, has taught numerous classes in all levels of Greek and Latin in the San Francisco Bay Area to students of all ages, from pre-college to adults. Currently she teaches at Saint Mary’s College of California, where she is a tutor in the Integral Program and an adjunct associate professor at the Department of Classical Languages.
Rali’s teaching approach is student-centered and (moderately) flexible. She sees grammar as a universal vehicle for the effective expression of logical thought. She expects her students to invest intellectually in the understanding of grammar, as they read and comprehend Greek and Latin texts. Her best students are fluent readers of Greek and Latin, appreciative of the ingenuous rhetorical use of the grammatical patterns in the texts and cognizant of these texts’ extended context. Rali helps students discover and develop their natural study propensities and talents.
